80's Sonorlite in white lacquer

80's Sonorlite
14x71/4 Snare

I've wanted one for the last 14 years. -- Now I've got one!

Sonorlites are constructed of Scandinavian birch in very thin 12-ply shells.
I was a bit disturbed when I pulled this one out of the box. Whoever owned it before me didn't appreciate it at all. It was filthy, covered in duct tape goo, and the "SonorLite - Made in Germany" badge was missing. These have since been corrected.

Typical of my other Sonor drums, this one is heavy! The triple-flanged rims that were on the drum when I got it have been replaced with Sonor Die Casts. The finish is a high gloss white lacquer.

The tone is nothing short of marvelous - Lay into this drum and it will BARK!
It's very useable in low volume jazz and cocktail situations, too!

Afterfinding my Birch finished Sonorlite, this one found a new home in Nashville...

 Striking similarity to a
Ludwig P-85 strainer.

(LEFT) Adjustable tension on both sides of the strainer mechanism, the original triple flanged rims...

Replacement badge.
(Better than none at all!)
