Hi Guys,

If I am not wrong, some years ago there were rumors about the s-class pro shells to be made in china. They would be recognizable by the horizontal veneering direction of the outer ply. Is this true or was it only a bad dream I had last night?

thanks in advance.

Mirco.

Hi - I've recently bought an SCP snare and then just a week ago a further SCP 22/10/12/14.

Bages state "Made in Germany". Finish is Grained Maple Gloss and the veneer runs vertical.

The drums are extremely well made and sound fantastic. I also have a made in China Select Force in comparative sizes, which while really sounding good, does not come anywhere close to the sound or spec of the SCPs. Both kits have maple shells

S Class Maple and most S Class Pro shells are Chinese made.
With exemption to Grained Maple shells (and possibly the Green and Rose coloured Birdseyes too), and kicks that were 18.5 deep, rather than 16.
All shells that are Vertical inner/ outer are German made. ;)
Horizontal inner and outer ply shells are Chinese. :?  :o :x :x :|
The Chinese shells have been known to have 2 date stamps, red= Shell manufacture (Chinese) and Blue= Assembly in Germany.
I had a Grained maple set once, The tom mount lower t-bar arm was pushed in a little, been nudged/dropped prior to me owning it, Choked the resonance significantly.
If you own one, check the mount is parallel to the shell. :ugeek:

Thanks a lot Jeff,

I own a Green fade Delite set. It's the only Delite finish with outer horizontal wood grain. I think it's the same Alpi veneer they used for the aqua green S-Class Pro. So I was a bit worried!

I sent you a PM.

best wishes,

Mirco.
