... is now for sale:

Remember his black Slingerland kit (circa A Farewell To Kings) fetched 30K or so few years ago? That Tama kit is even more iconic.

Just for the record that's Neil's second Tama kit: his first was a red Superstar kit, this one's a Artstar prototype.

Yes. This kit has generated quite a bit of buzz on other boards. The opinion is that the initial estimate is a bit low - but it is missing the Simmons pads & brain Neil was using with that kit. I don't think it will bring $30K in this economic climate, but $10-$15K wouldn't be surprising.

Edit: Well hush my mouth! Closing bid was $35K!!!!

The snare on that track should have been his trusty 'Number 1" Slingerland Chrome over Brass snare, I believe. I think he used that snare up until 1995 or 1996 or so, when he switched to DW and somehow thought THEIR snares were better. Bah!

Khowing the nature of DW, no doubt that the contract reads that he is not allowed to use a non DW drum in any comercial circumstance. My bet is that the sling is still his number 1.

The kit sold for over 35k... not bad.

This kit was part of a give a way contest in Modern Drummer. The accustic kit and simons kit were split up as seperate prizes.

I think Vapor Trails or one of the latest albums, he did a spread in Modern Drummer and detailed the snares he used on that album. Mostly a DW, Bamboo model, if I recall.

Anyway, this has been said here and elsewhere, but Neil's DW kits sound very ordinary, especially the snares. I doubt he has taken Ol' Number 1 out of mothballs in the last decade. Crazy as it seems, I'm sure a lot of us would know it if he did.

The black Slingerland set has been sold a few years ago.

I'm just sayin.... Pure speculation.... That he is not allowed to use anything other than DW products to tour/record/clinic/ talk about etc....

At home in his own studio, who knows what the guy does?

IIRC, I don't think the two COB snares were part of the Slingerland auction... (I could be wrong... It's been years since I was a Peart fanatic)

You are wrong. Neil Peart can use what he wants. One of the snares used on Vapor Trails was the Yamaha Elvin Jones model. Another was the Yamaha bamboo. It´s all in the Modern Drummer article from that era. (September 2002 issue, page 63. Article written by Peart himself.)
