I layed my hands on a Sonor snare Extra 1936-51 imperial lugs wooden shell which is in a pretty bad condition, specially the shell.
It isn't round anymore and worse of all, the bearing edges are bent inwards quiet a bid. So i wondered if i could save this shell, because it's old, original, rare and with no extra holes.
How to get those bended bearing edges strechted again, without ruin the shell totally?

As tricky a simpel.
Remove all the paint and the reïnforcement rings.(were already partially loosened)
Put 2 hoops in the middle around the shell (so the shell can't get out of shape) and the 2 original hoops exact on top and bottom and install numerous clamps at the right places and put the whole project in big "bucket" filled with water.
The clamps will keep forcing the edge towards the original position against the hoops, as the shell is soaking in the water and will get flexibel more and more.
After about 20 hours the proces was finished. I could'nt believe my eyes, the glue of the plywood still kept the shell together and didn't loosen.
The shell was almost round again and the bearing edges back in place for 95%.
I took of all clamps and dryed the shell with a cloth and repositioned the clamps.
Now it's drying nearby the stove (save distance) while turning it every half hour, to be sure the shell while dry evenly.
Will be continued.
