Todd Sucherman

The Sonormuseum is proud to announce that Todd, the drummer for Styx, is a closet Sonor Geek!

Actually he was an endorser for several years and is now at Pearl. You can find Todd on the web at http://toddsucherman.com. Styx is at http://www.styxworld.com.

Here's Todd's babies:

This is the Signature Special Edition kit I used on the 1997 Styx tour.
I had used a Bubinga Designer Series on the 1996 tour (on CD/DVD), but sold them.
These smoked 'em, in my opinion.
8x8, 10x10, 12x10, 14x14, 16x16, no mounts. RIMS on bottom.
5 Signature double cymbal stands, 1 Signature double tom stand.

Left to right:
1982/83 era Rosewood Phonics 10x8, 12x8, 13x9, 14x14, 16x16, 22x14

Early '90s Signature 8x8 (on floor) 10x10, 12x12, 14x16, 16x18, 22x18

1988 Rosewood Lite 8x8, 10x9, 12x10, 14x12, 15x13, 22x17
RIMS on bottom.

Here are the 12 and 14 Rosewood Lites close up.
This was my main "working" kit from 1988 to '95.

Decked out with a full set of Protec hardware, which I still use for in town gigs.

My first Sonor kit I got when I was 10 years old.
White Phonics 13x9, 14x10, 16x16, 22x14

Here is a rack of snares.
The Sonor ones are on the bottom rack.
14x6 1/2 Chrome Phonic
10x2 Jungle (barely seen in the pic)
14x4 Signature bell bronze
14x6 1/2 Rosewood Phonic
There are also a couple Ayottes, Nobles, a Zildjian Noble,
Yamaha Manu Katche Limited, Trick, Pearl Masterworks.

It was tough to leave Sonor, as it became hard to receive items on the road
in a timely fashion. All the things I loved were discontinued. I was
briefly with Ayotte, and then found a home with Pearl.
I know it seems blasphemous to the hard core, but these custom Masterworks
are amazing. I designed them with the Phonics in mind. 8ply, standard
sizes. 2 outer ply Bubinga (not veneer), 4 middle ply Maple, 2 inner ply
African Mahogany. 24k gold hardware.
8x7, 8x8, 10x8, 12x8, 14x14, 16x16, 22x18 14x5 1/2 snare.

Hope you enjoyed the tour.
